Our Nurses
Dawn, Senior Veterinary Nurse, Middlesbrough
Hello!
I'm Dawn, mother of one (plus one on the way!) and Senior Veterinary Nurse at Middlesbrough
So here's my background: I have worked in three practices over the past 12 years prior to joining Vets Now. I completed my training in a referral hospital in Gateshead where I gained valuable and extensive experience in orthopaedic surgery. In addition I also became an NVQ assessor at this practice.
So I guess now your wondering how my career at Vets Now started... Well, I began my days at Vets Now working as a locum before becoming a full time member of staff in October 2006, and I've never looked back!
When I joined the Middlesbrough clinic I have to admit there were a few teething problems, especially due to the fact that initially we didn't have a Senior Veterinary Surgeon and were relying heavily on locum Vets. However, in true Vets Now style we soon built a strong team and all pulled together to make Vets Now Middlesbrough a success above and beyond everyone's expectations!
I'd have to say the best part of my job is that it is never routine or boring! - I have never encountered so many GDV's, with an average of two a week meaning we have now gained a great deal of experience in this area, and luckily have an excellent success rate! Furthermore whether you're a veterinary nurse or senior veterinary nurse like me there are always opportunities for you to grow because Vets Now give us such a generous CPD allowance. Finally, I also have to mention that another great part of my job is the work life balance that Vets Now offer which means I only work six days out of fourteen and as a result have plenty of free time to spend with my friends and family!
P.S. A welcome addition to my social and work calendar is the Vets Now Congress held every November - if you get the chance to come along I'm sure you'll agree!
